  • Naviance software familiarization: this is the primary platform used in Eagle County Schools for college and career planning (ICAP)

  • Supporting students in the writing of Advanced Learning Plans (ALPs): Post-secondary goal setting and monitoring, beginning with articulating a broad post-secondary goal, working through narrowing the focus, and ending with a specific action plan, as students move through each grade. Goals are set and monitored via a Naviance survey, and focus on college/career and personal (social/emotional/identity) areas

  • Student college/career advising/planning meetings: either individually or in small groups, and possibly together with school counselors, depending upon schedules and student needs.

  • Information sharing and collaboration with relevant school counselors in relation to college and career planning with GT students

  • Support for students in advocating for their individual academic and/or social-emotional needs with school staff: outlining a specific plan for effective communication between GT students and their teachers

  • Student EDGE group meetings: informal, as needed, either during both lunch periods (EVHS) or before school late-start (BMHS)

  • Providing professional learning support and resources for teachers in meeting the needs of advanced and gifted students in their classes: staff presentations and co-planning

  • Liaising with the ECS College and Career specialist to share information about GT student needs, and opportunities for advancement such as Early College High School

  • Referring students with specific questions in relation to subject/class choice and pathways at their school to the counselor

  • Maintaining a High School GT website to post relevant information for families

  • Maintaining a GT Schoology page to post relevant information for students

  • Parents may decline gifted services by completing and signing a GT Exit Form. Please contact Mrs. Espegren for more details. Please note that:

  • The student’s GT identification with Eagle County Schools is preserved

  • Exit is from GT services only

  • After three contacts have been initiated with students to complete an ALP goal-setting document with no response, students and families will be considered to have declined gifted services
