STUDENT SELF-ADVOCACY

Does your child believe he/she needs additional levels of challenge in any classes at school?

Here is the first step for students to advocate for change:

  • A student self-advocating document is available as a Google Form for anyone who would like to submit ideas for change. The form is called the GT Response to Instruction Student Survey, and can be used by any student who wishes to advocate for their academic needs. It is designed to formalize this process. Parents are encouraged to support their child to complete the form, however this is essentially a self-advocating process for students. Upon receipt of the form, I will liaise with the student, and with lead and content teachers at school, to respond to the needs described. Families will be informed of progress and decisions made to support their child.

  • The link to the form is: https://goo.gl/forms/Ulco2UH7XcA40bKL2

PARENT ADVOCACY

If you have concerns about a particular aspect of your child's education, please initially encourage your child to complete the self-advocacy Google Form. If additional support is needed, contact his/her teacher to set up a meeting that includes yourself and your student.

To advocate for systemic change or GT-specific issues, please don't hesitate to contact me via email.
